Alice
Gavin '51 Enderlin
Alice
(Gavin) Enderlin graduated from Immaculate Conception in 1951.
A 1955 graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Nauvoo, IL. She earned
her baccalaureate in nursing from St. Ambrose College in 1959.She
earned her masters degree in nursing administration from Bradley
University in 1988.
Enderlin
was an instructor and coordinator of the nursing programs at Carl
Sandburg College for 30 years. In addition, served as past president
of the board of directors with several area organizations including
Spoon River Community Mental Health Center, Warren County United
Way, and St. Mary's Academy. She currently serves as a board member
of the Bridgeway Management Systems, Inc., Galesburg, IL.Enderlin
is owner/operator of the Welcome Inn, Inc. providing living accommodations
for the elderly.
She
noted, "I have had the privilege of 15 years of Catholic Education.
Even in the early years at I.C.S. the environment and the people
greatly influenced my world view and instilled a philosophy and
many values that influenced my decision making throughout my personal
and professional life. Looking back 50 years, I would identify
knowledge and love of the Catholic Faith, curiosity and motivation
for learning, respect for authority, self discipline, and service
to others as the attributes I gained from the Sisters of Saint
Benedict and the parish priests of I.C.S."
She
and her husband, Larry, have three children: Jane, Kevin, and
George, all graduates of Immaculate Conception School. Alice and
Larry have five grandchildren attending Immaculate Conception
School: Logan Tucker '01, Caiti Tucker, Sydney, Drew, Ethan, and
Hanna Enderlin. Congratulations as the first female recipient
of the James J. Toal Alumni Achievement Awards!
